H.O.P.E. Hermosa's Organization of Parents for Education
H.O.P.E exists to promote activities that strengthen the Hermosa School community, and to encourage parental volunteer involvement. Every parent is encouraged to participate. The Parent Organization has five main goals. These goals are actualized through social events, educational presentations, and volunteer participation at school. Each goal is listed below along with some typical activities.
I. Assist Hermosa Staff and Teachers
Demonstrate support for teachers
Organize and facilitate support as requested by teachers to assist with gardening, field trips, lunch, pre-k snack
material preparation, office assistance, and art assistance.
Demonstrate staff appreciation by providing holiday and /or birthday recognition
Donate supplies
II. Support and Strengthen School Community
Support School wide social events such as Skate Night, school dance, potluck, Middle School Spaghetti Dinner, carnival, music and choir performance, and talent Show
Host elementary “Back to School"pizza lunch social
III. Facilitate School Improvement
Assist with short term and long-term capital improvements
Short term Projects
Playground renovation
Play field installation
Long term Projects
Site development, architecture plans, and building construction for library, auditorium, gymnasium, art and music rooms, and commercial kitchen.
IV. Demonstrate Support of Arizona Tax Credit
Increase awareness of Arizona Tax Credit to raise funds for extracurricular activities which include art program, physical education, cooperative sports and games, music, choir, field trips, ropes course, swimming pool, tutorials, gardening, and middle school electives
V. Facilitate Communication and Education
Increase knowledge of Montessori Philosophy and Methods.
Foster communication between school and home.
Publicize events with banners, posters, and announcements
Assist with distribution of school communications
Support Birthday Book and Scholastic Book Program
