Hermosa Montessori School

While working on her Master's degree, Sheila decided she would prefer to put her energy into actualizing and implementing her vision for education instead of completing an academic research project, and founded Hermosa in 1978. Sheila is the proud mother of two children, a son who recently graduated college and a daughter in high school, both Hermosa graduates. Sheila enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, embroidering beading, reading, singing with a choir, dancing , gardening, and hiking.

She received a B.A. degree in Elementary and Preschool Education, A.M.I. Certification, Avila College, Kansas City, MO, 1973. Sheila currently serves as Head of School and Principal. She is intimately involved in all aspects of the school's functioning, and enjoys working with students. Sheila is a member of the American Montessori Society, the Association Montessori International, North American Montessori Teacher's Association, and the Arizona Charter School Association. She has worked in traditional and Montessori classrooms for over 35 years.

Ms. Stolov has recently been selected for membership in AZ LEADS (Arizona Leaders in Education for the Advancement and Development of Student and School Success) Circle of Honor. She is being recognized as an outstanding instructional leader based on acheivement profiles, survey feedback from constituents and a site visit by an AZ LEADS team. This is an exemplary group, representing the top 2% of principals in the State of Arizona..
