Randy Young
Randy Young received his BA in Clinical Psychology, Montessori early childhood certification, and AMI Montessori Elementary certification. Prior to beginning his teaching career, Randy was the Director and Co-Founder of the Long Beach Hotline and Line Training Program, which served the southern California region in crisis intervention counseling. He also worked as a counselor for the United States Department of Justice, and the Community Treatment Center in California. Randy taught early childhood and elementary students in California and western Arizona before joining the Hermosa staff. Randy began Hermosas elementary program in 1981 and been an instrumental partner in Hermosas growth and development. Randy is a History buff and enjoys bringing the subject alive for his students, as well as sharing his love of the natural world. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Randy is also available to students as a counselor, and facilitates middle school community development. Students in Whos Who of American Teachers have recognized him in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2006. Randy plays saxophone and penny whistle, and enjoys spending time at his Vail ranch when not working with students.
Pat Dumont
Pat received her BA in English and her AMS Montessori elementary certification. Pat shares her love of language, literature, writing, and poetry with Hermosas elementary upper students. She taught pre-school through middle school students since joining Hermosa staff in 1986. Pat is the mother of three Hermosa graduates, two sons and one daughter, and first became involved at Hermosa as a Montessori parent. In her free time Pat enjoys spending time with her family including her two children still at home. She enjoys reading, poetry, writing, and music especially her husband serenading her on his guitar.
